EMMA: THE WORKER OF THE FUTURE

qui, 01 de abr de 2021 às 16:08

Today's post I want to introduce you to the prototype of the Emma doll.

It was the result of a study commissioned by the British office solutions company Fellowes, with the aim of understanding and drawing attention to the consequences of the way we work and how the work environments are configured today.

It is a real representation of what we will be like in 20 years if we do not start to take ergonomics seriously and change the way we work. If we maintain inadequate postures and poorly designed work environments.

The project embodies the effects of poor posture, physical inactivity, effects of long hours in front of the computer can generate after 20 years, through changes in physical and morphological appearance.

In this post I will conduct a brief analysis of these effects:

1. Dry and red eyes: excessive hours in front of the computer, eye strain, dry eyes due to the absence / reduction of the "blinking" movement of the eyes.

2. Pale skin: exposure to artificial light and reduced exposure to natural light.

3. Varicose veins and lymphatic disorders: due to sedentary lifestyle and the maintenance of prolonged postures for long periods, resulting in varicose veins and joint "swellings / edema".

4. Eczema: usually caused by stress and psychosomatic symptoms resulting from work stress.

5. Breathing difficulties: due to excessive exposure to air conditioning and poor air quality.

6. Postural changes:

Modification of the curvature of the cervical region due to excessive inclination for the use of cell phones, inadequate height of the computer screen.

Abdominal weakness, resulting in altered spinal curves and "prominent stomach."

7. Back pain and muscle tension:

Result of bad posture in the work environment, in the eyes of ergonomics I reinforce you: NO ONE REMAINS IN A POSITION RUM BECAUSE HE WANTS!

A BAD POSITION IS THE RESULT OF A BAD DESIGNED ENVIRONMENT!

These are some of the consequences of today's work environments, which is why looking at ergonomics as a serious issue that needs to be considered in your projects!

A professional with this qualification can actually make a real change in these consequences, so that there are not so many Emmas in the future.

Kisses and see you in the next post :)
